Stephen Barrouquere is a 40 plus year-old native of the New Orleans. Stephen ran a few Crescent Classics back in the early '80s (remember the green shirts) with no training. And up until Katrina was only a part-time runner running/training for Crescent Classic 3-4 months out of the year. After Katrina, Stephen and co-workers evacuated a flooded city to Baton Rouge. During the time in Baton Rouge after eating and drinking for days on end, decided to make a change. Stephen started running around the LSU Lakes with a few co-workers. In Dec. 2005, Stephen ran his first half marathon, and afterwards said: 'I will never run another half marathon'. And despite better judgement, Stephen is still running having completed 4 marathons (Las Vegas 2007, St. Jude Memphis 2008, Kentucky Derby 2009, Marine Corps 2011), the 2010 Pikes Pike Ascent, and more than 20 half marathons.
